Thank you so much for this! This idea is one of the reasons I have such issues with the F.I.R.E. movement and any other suggestions to live a life of extreme frugality or restriction with the plan of enjoying all the rewards later. What about now? What if there is no later? That way of living is not mindful and I love that you are highlighting it in the finance community.
Oh, I have a lot of feels about the FIRE movement. ;) It's also intensely difficult to switch out of the mindset of deprivation and restriction, even after you've achieved your goal.
"Our lives are full of seasons, but some of these seasons will never return." - I think about this A LOT. Balancing not screwing over my future self with making the most of today, aka the only day that ever actually happens. Really enjoyed reading this.
Thank you! I've been thinking about it a lot lately in terms of relationships as well. Friends moving, older family members aging, siblings entering new stages of life, it all means a change in the amount of time we can spend together and it's important to prioritize time with loved ones when we can.
I love this idea. Thanks for the insight. Really just the idea of enjoying life in the moment, rather than waiting for some special time in the future, which may never arrive.

Morbid (to many), but so true! It also might not be because of something as final as death, but simple a change in circumstances.
