I really like your hybrid idea: yours, mine, ours. I come from the more traditional model of everything being combined since marriage. Thankfully it has worked out well - the marriage that is. I can see the felxibility afforded in the hybrid model to account for both the optionality if things do not work, but importantly the reduction in nitpicking which may be a big reason things do not work.

I think about this a lot especially with inter-cultural marriage. What's the most fair and equitable way to handle it, it's so complicated.
